Do you have an idea on how to contribute to the development of Victoria's visitor economy?

The 2018 VTIC Student Entrepreneurial Award aims to support and encourage new ideas and the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Award must be undertaken by a team or individual currently studying at Diploma level or higher.

Applicants may propose undertaking any project that will contribute to the development of the visitor economy. Entries are encouraged to be entrepreneurial, and a financially viable business concept. Ideas presented should satisfy a current or future need in the visitor economy and may be submitted by a team or individual, in any format.

Criteria

Entries can be made in any format but must be accompanied by a summary business case of no more than five pages. The business case should address the following key criteria (equal weighting will be applied to each criteria).

  1. The idea presented must satisfy a current or future need in the visitor economy. Entries must identify and address a current or future need in the visitor economy. The likely benefits should be defined and entries must demonstrate how demand will be met.
  2. The idea presented must be a financially viable business concept. Entries must present an idea that is financially viable and feasible as a business concept, with the supporting business case outlining how options have been investigated, costs validated and financial viability is achieved.
  3. The entry must outline how the idea would be delivered. Entries must outline how the idea will be delivered. The business case should describe how the idea will transition from concept to implementation, including timelines, key milestones, key personnel and their roles, and how risks will be identified and managed.
  4. Presentation of the idea at the 2018 Victorian Tourism Conference. The finalist from each institution will be required to present their idea to delegates and the judging panel in a 10-minute presentation at the 2018 Victorian Tourism Conference (July 2018- date TBA).

The successful finalist from Angliss, will receive a $4,000 (incl GST) cash prize. The Angliss finalist will be required to make a 10-minute presentation at the 2018 Victorian Tourism Conference, to be held in July 2018, date and location TBA.
